The past weekend (wait, what do you mean it's weekend again already??) we had the Equip 2010 conference. It was great, really great... so much so that, 4 days after it, I'm still a little in denial that it is over!
Equip is the amalgamation of the previous years' MYCs and YAECs. This year, just like MYC last year, it was held at Rocklands, in Simonstown. Rocklands is a beautiful camp ground and certainly ranks amongst my personal favourites.
So I'm off to Equip 2010 in a few minutes. Hoping for some good teaching and fellowship there. If you are interested, Saturday is open day. Check the Facebook page for details. Have a good Passover and Pesach!
Another news story which caused me some concern recently was posted on 21 February on the BBC News website. The story was entitled Voodoo religion's role in helping Haiti's quake victims. In brief, it examines the lack of any notable or organised relief efforts on behalf of the Voodoo community in the wake of the January earthquake in Haiti.
Recently the BBC News website ran a story which made me think a bit about certain secular and church attitudes. The story was published on 28 February and was about protests in the Netherlands to allow homosexuals to partake in Communion. In brief, the story is about a recent upheaval in the Netherlands against the Roman Catholic church's policy of denying practising homosexuals Communion (also known as the Eucharist). I want to get my thoughts about some of the things which I read about in the article out in the open.

Ok, this announcement is a bit late, but there are still some space left. This year, the annual Young Adults' Easter Convention and the Mid-Year Conference (MYC) have been merged into one convention called “Equip”. It will be held from the 1st to the 5th of April (the Easter weekend) at Rocklands in Simonstown and will have the same format as MYC. The guest speaker will be William Taylor from the UK, who will be taking us through Luke 4—6. The cost is R600, and all registrations are done at www.crossword.org.za.
Wow, this year has just been crazy thus far. Between university and church, little is left other than exhaustion. At TBT, especially, we have a full program, as usual. And starting tomorrow a friend and I will be presenting a short course entitled Christianity Explained in the complex where we live.
I managed to dig up another map I can use from Wikimedia Commons. This one shows the three missionary journeys of the Apostle Paul which are mentioned in the Bible, as well as the initial stage of his first imprisonment and way to Rome. You can find the map here.
Just a quick note that registration is open for Crossword Youth Camp 2009! Crossword is a camp held yearly and draws mostly high school students and, other people who are young at heart, from the surrounding CESA churches. This year the theme is "Sure Thing". It will be held from the 14th to the 19th of December at the Paul Roos grounds in Stellenbosch. According to many people at TBT, Crossword is the event of the year! The web page can be found here.
